We submitted planning permission in 2012 for the residential development of the former Sports Ground for up to 40 dwellings. Despite retaining the bowls club on site, the scheme was refused at committee due to the loss of open space. However, this decision was appealed and the refusal successfully overturned by an Inspector who concluded that the benefits of the scheme outweighed the loss of playing pitch facilities. The Council challenged the appeal decision through a S288 in the High Court however we were successful in defending that position and the permission remained in place

Following this a reserved matters application was prepared and in March 2016, Fernham Homes and Southern & Regional Developments Ltd received the Planning Committee's resolution to approve reserved matters relating to the detailed plans for the site. We sold the site to Fernham Homes.
